After many nights of perusing the web for clues I found an ancestry research page with many postings about the Carrier Dove.  Apparently that fast passage from Liverpool to Melbourne in the fall of 1857 brought over three hundred plus passengers who have a good many descendants now in Australia.

I reached out to one of the posters: Judy Acaster who is a descendant of one of those passengers and she responded back.  I was really delighted when she not only replied but offered to share her extensive research of the Carrier Dove.  A couple of weeks later I got a wonderful package from her with transcripts of the diaries of two passengers and a copy of one of the passenger contracts!

Thank you Judy!
